Much like the Internet, the human genome (building blocks of our genetic material) is extremely complex.
Affymetrix (Nasdaq: AFFX) Wednesday launched a Website it hopes will make both a little more manageable.
The NetAffx site is Affymetrix’ first Internet resource dedicated to helping scientists access information about genetic experiments and research quickly.
The data is accessed and generated by Affymetrix’s GeneChip arrays with biological information available in a broad range of public and private databases.
“The Website is an example of our commitment to provide customers with tools to reach experimental conclusions faster,” says Affymetrix Senior VP of Marketing Alan Dance. “We intend to continue adding functionality to the site to help our customers to accelerate their scientific discovery. Through the NetAffx resource, pharmaceutical, biotech and academic customers can quickly and easily access a wealth of popular information resources including Affymetrix proprietary annotations and conduct high-throughput batch queries all from their desktop.”
Scientists may also use NetAffx tools and information to choose genes or groups of genes to design queries specific to their research needs.
