PeopleSoft To Keep Ross Stores Connected

Discount clothing retailer Ross Stores (Nasdaq: ROST) says it went shopping around for its own Internet-based solution to keep its shelves stocked and its employees connected.

Winds up the Newark, Calif.-based didn’t have to look more than 20 miles to the East to find Pleasanton, Calif.-based PeopleSoft (Nasdaq: PSFT) and its PeopleSoft 8. The discount retailer Monday says it will license PeopleSoft’s Portal Solutions for its 423 stores in 20 states.

The agreement means Ross Stores will collaborate more closely with its suppliers and employees by sharing personalized business information including Financials, Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Enterprise Performance Management.

“By collaborating with our employees and suppliers through PeopleSoft’s roles-based portals, Ross Stores expects to improve operational productivity and enhance supplier relationships, without increasing costs,” says Ross Stores senior vice president and CFO John Call.

With the addition of Ross, PeopleSoft boasts more than 4,700 organizations in 107 countries, which run its eBusiness applications.
