D-Link enters the 802.11a space today with the introduction of an integrated 802.11a/802.11b access point. The dual-radio 2.4GHz/5GHz access point offers 802.11a wireless connectivity at 54Mbps and 802.11b wireless connectivity at 11Mbps.
“This breakthrough all-in-one dual band design delivers the ultimate investment protection with the promise of a superior product life cycle and lower total cost of ownership,” said Steven Joe, president of D-Link, in a prepared statement “With both 2.4 and 5GHz connectivity, it allows customers to future proof their networks, protect their existing investment and create a seamless point of integration.”
The D-LinkAir Pro DWL-6000AP has a secure Web-based interface powered by an embedded Web server. The included D-Link Device View Software allows for easy monitoring and management of the access point through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) functionality. It includes two internal mini-PCI slots to allow both WiFi and WiFi5 adapters and connectivity.
It also supports console/telnet sessions and a 10/100 Ethernet interface. Firmware upgrades will allow the unit to evolve and provide support for new software features as they become available.
The D-LinkAir Pro DWL-6000AP Dual Band Wireless Access Point will be available in June with a suggested retail price of $499.
