Ulead Systems Inc. Friday released Ulead Animation.Applet, its new WYSIWYG tool for creating animated Java applets.

Animation.Applet enables users to easily create complex Java-based animations, such as scrolling news tickers, interactive flying logos and company banner advertisements. These animations can contain multiple images, sounds, varied text, colors, motion styles and URL links.

Ulead Animation.Applet walks users through the applet creation process to generate animated applets. The tool produces all of the required code as well as tests the applet, with no Java or HTML experience necessary. Animation.Applet also provides controls over applet properties including size, looping and color as well as sprite settings and timeline control.

One of Animation.Applet’s features is its ability to generate multiple sprite animations. A sprite is an “individually animated element in a larger graphic image or set of images.” Users can create sprites visually, overlay them and position them anywhere on the applet plane. This enables users to create complicated applets that include multiple images and text, using different animated effects.

Additionally, Animation.Applet allows users to create Java-based mouse-over animations, display text in the browser’s status bar and create hyperlinks to other sites. Ulead Animation.Applet sells for a retail price of $49.95 and may be purchased through the major online resellers or through the Ulead WebUtilities Web site.
