Netegrity, Vignette to Offer Secure Content

Portal management specialist Netegrity
Inc.
Wednesday joined technologies with
Vignette Corp. to provide companies
with new portal infrastructure required to provide secure content to their
customers, partners and employees.

The combination of Netegrity’s SiteMinder e-commerce
infrastructure solution for secure portal management and Vignette’s V/5
E-business Platform will make it possible for Vignette customers to develop
and deploy their e-business portals.

As part of the agreement, the companies will participate in joint sales and
marketing programs to promote the two products. As well, Netegrity is
participating in Vignette’s recently launched V2B
Services — a one-stop destination for know-how and supplies for
establishing an e-business.

SiteMinder provides customers with powerful e-commerce management
capabilities that integrate with the Vignette platform including:

  • Single sign-on — Provides single sign-on across all Vignette
applications as well as the other applications within a company’s enterprise
  • Authentication management — Enables Vignette customers to leverage
SiteMinder to integrate public key infrastructure (PKI) technology, password
management, smart cards, custom forms, and even biometric capabilities into
    their applications
  • Centralized management — Policies can be centrally created to manage
user access to all Vignette applications
  • Affiliate services — Netegrity’s new breakthrough technology for
e-partnerships can now be utilized by Vignette customers to seamlessly
integrate partner applications into their portals
  • Delegated Management — Enables companies to delegate administration of
    user profiles to remote administrators

“Vignette and Netegrity have been working together for some time now as is
evidenced by the numerous customers taking advantage of the two products
today,” Bill Bartow, vice president of marketing at Netegrity. “The two
solutions go hand in hand to enable the rapid deployment of robust,
scalable, and secure e-business portals.”

Vignette’s agreement with Netegrity comes off a May where it acquired
software firm OnDisplay in a $1.7 billion stock swap. Vignette is currently
jockeying for dominant market position in the Web content management sector
against companies such as BroadVision. Both vendors have turned to XML as a
key technology.
