    ALAMEDA, Calif., Aug. 27–Wind River Systems , a provider of embedded development software and services for
    the Internet era, and ICESoft AS of Bergen, Norway, announced that
    Wind River has acquired ICESoft, a developer of innovative
    embedded Internet browsing technologies for intelligent devices. Through
    the acquisition, Wind River will enable manufacturers of consumer
    electronic products, including Internet appliances such as Web pads and
    screen phones, Digital TVs, set-top boxes and Web-based business terminals,
    to incorporate Web browsing and secure transaction functionality into their
    products. Wind River acquired ICESoft for $25 million in cash.

    FORT WORTH, Texas and MENLO PARK, Calif., Aug. 28–Sabre
    Holdings
    , the world leader in travel marketing and
    distribution, announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire
    GetThere in an all cash tender offer valued at
    $757 million. The GetThere
    acquisition will bring together the top two players in the online
    business-to-business corporate travel channel and the business-to-consumer
    e-commerce channel for airlines, travel suppliers and travel agencies.
    GetThere will be combined with the Sabre
    Business Travel Solutions unit.

    STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 28–Alteon WebSystems announced a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held
    Bluetail AB, a Swedish-based Internet startup for approximately $152
    million in a stock-for-stock shareholder exchange. Bluetail manufactures and markets
    content-intelligent traffic management software for high-volume Web
    computing environments and will play a key role in Alteon’s Webworking framework.
    Each Bluetail shareholder will receive .62995 shares of Alteon WebSystems
    common stock for every share of Bluetail common stock.


     

 































    ATLANTA, Aug. 28–Atlanta-based HeadHunter.Net , the #2 online recruiting site on the Internet, announced it
    had acquired the #1 healthcare recruiting site on the Web
    MiracleWorkers.com. The combined partnership will offer 35,000
    healthcare jobs, giving Headhunter.net an instant leadership
    role in providing eRecruiting services to the 1.2 trillion dollar
    healthcare industry. In the all-stock deal Headhunter.net exchanged
    1,437,500 shares for all the outstanding shares of MiracleWorkers.com.

    SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 28–Adobe Systems
    announced a definitive agreement to acquire Boston-based Glassbook,
    a developer of consumer and commercial software for the e-book market,
    automating the supply chain for publishers, booksellers, distributors and
    libraries. The Glassbook
    acquisition advances Adobe’s strategy of
    leveraging its publishing heritage to bring simplicity and ease of use to
    all aspects of the eBook experience. Financial terms of the agreement were

    PORTSMOUTH, N.H., Aug. 28–Bottomline Technologies , a provider of Web-enabled billing, payment and electronic
    banking solutions, announced two key acquisitions, Checkpoint
    Holdings
    and Flashpoint. Based in Reading, England, Checkpoint is a leading eCommerce
    and electronic payments software provider for the UK; its transaction is
    valued at $78 million. Flashpoint is a
    Web-based software development organization based in Boston, MA; its
    transaction is valued at approximately $12 million, consisting of $4.5
    million in cash and $7.5 million in stock. With these two acquisitions, Bottomline expects to significantly
    accelerate its growth, extend the reach of its technology solutions, and
    provide further resources for its global customers and worldwide channel
    partners.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 28–TechRepublic, an online destination
    developed exclusively for IT professionals by IT professionals, announced
    its acquisition of ITRadar.com, an emerging business-to-business
    information technology marketplace connecting buyers and sellers of
    information technology services. TechRepublic is an independent
    subsidiary of Gartner Group . The ITRadar.com acquisition will provide
    TechRepublic’s 800,000 registered members easy access to its established
    network of 3,800 IT services firms offering IT implementation, consulting,
    and staffing solutions in more than 50 local markets across the United
    States and Canada. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
